Project Brief

Sylvamo, a global paper company, wanted to design a stylish yet functional piece to showcase the quality and versatility of Accent Opaque®, the company’s premium uncoated paper brand. Sylvamo also wanted the project to play on the themes of exploration and discovery, and how high-quality paper and design can combine to create a print piece that inspires users to push the boundaries of their experiences — and to document their journey in print.

A planner and personal journal proved to be the perfect fit for showcasing how the right mix of paper, press, and design could create a true keepsake with real-world utility.

Solution

To help capture the spirit and essence of exploration, we created a perfect bound journal and planner using vibrant photography on the inner pages and a soft-touch lamination cover to give the journal a feeling of prestige and importance. We also designed the inner pages without set dates and times so the planner can be used at any time during the year. This flexibility makes it easier for users to progress toward their goals at a pace that fits their lifestyle.

The inner pages were printed on Accent Opaque Super Smooth 80 lb. Text with ImageLok® Technology. Printing these pages on the Canon ColorStream 8000 series web-fed inkjet press highlights the stunning photography and high-caliber feel of the journal.

The cover of the planner was printed on Accent Opaque Heavyweights 120 lb., and the Canon imagePRESS V1350 cutsheet color press helps the mosaic-style cover art instill a sense of adventure before users even open the journal.

Not only does the design and print quality of this journal set a tone for personal exploration, but the freedom with which the planner is structured helps users chart a course for discovery on their terms.
